Breakdown:
This ad took me just about 15 minutes to plan out.
The ad starts with a hook in which I call out my target audience in hopes that they keep watching. My target audience is people who wanted to hear new music and love to listen to artists like Kid Laroi, Juice WRLD, Trippie Red, Lil Mosey, and Iann Dior. I picked those artists specifically because, from my personal examination and from other I know as well, Hbs Mablo sounds similar to these artists. If people like the artists I mentioned, my thought process is that they would like his music too.
By saying "If you are looking for new music," it gets the attention of people who may be trying to find new songs to listen to. Furthermore, when I say "and you listen to Kid Laroi, Juice WRLD, Trippie Redd, Lil Mosey, and Iann Dior," I am utilizing their brand recognition, as well as calling out to people who like these specific artists because if they like these people, they may stick around longer to watch. This also raises the chances of my audience giving the song I am suggesting a chance because they like the artists I mentioned.
When I suggest people listen to Hbs Mablo, I mention his hometown just in case people from Ohio see it, and want to support an artist from their home state. This could be a downside however, as it prolongs me getting to my point. I have not tested to see if it would make any difference. Maybe it lost some people's attention, and maybe it didn't affect anything.
When I introduce Hbs Mablo, I play an "Ooooo" sound effect and by doing this I am utilizing pathos, creating a curious emotion with the audience and getting them to take interest in what I am speaking about.
In the next few words, I say "Be the first," and when I say that, I added a crashing sound effect because I wanted to emphasize the potential value people will get from becoming a fan. It is always a good feeling socially when you tell people about an artist you have been listening to since they had no fanbase, and you tell them you have watched them blow up. I wanted to play on that feeling, and emphasize to people that they could be some of the first people to watch this artist blow up and they could brag to their friends.
When I talk about this, I show a video of someone writing a comment on the video, and by doing this, it increases the odds that the viewers can see themselves doing it, and therefore increasing the odds of the viewers engaging on the music video. Furthermore, if they engage, they are more likely to become real fans as well.
After, I said "then you can put all your friends on and thank me later." I said this for a few reasons. One, so that people will have some sort of incentive to watch the video. Two, when I said this, I added a hooray sound effect, and a picture of South Park children. By doing this, it adds a comedic effect which utilizes pathos. It makes the advertisement less of an ad and more of an entertaining video which increases viewer retention.
I then talk about how he sounds like the artists I mentioned earlier, so if people like those artists, then they should check him out.
I then address the people who may still not be convinced and are yet still watching. I talk about two options, one side is red, signaling to viewers it's not the right option, and the second option is green, signaling it is the correct option. Some people find music by looking up top hip hop songs of 2021, so I address that and tell people they shouldn't keep doing this through a red overlay, a buzzer sound effect, and an "X" over the screen. Then I show me looking up the music video and I put a "ding" sound effect and a green overlay with a check. I mention that he is one of the most talented underground artists so people feel like they need to hear it as well.
Lastly, I say click somewhere to view the video, that's only because I did not know where the Call To Action button was going to appear. After that, I say I hope to see you in the comments, and by including this with the CTA, it helps push people who watched all the way through to really engage with the video and become true fans of not only me, but Hbs Mablo as well.
Finally, as a part of my branding, I put my signature logo over the video and with the flash it ends.
